Micro expansion unlocked! Some known faces show up
over 6 years ago – Wed, Nov 08, 2017 at 01:12:48 AM

Frosten slowly pushes the door open, trying not to make a sound. The three horses tethered to a tree near the potion shop scratch their hooves and neigh nervously, while the shop sign swings softly in the wind.

Inside the potion shop, Frosten needs time to adjust his eyes to the darkness, the first thing he notices is a green glow from the back of the room. Three hunched figures are huddled around a kettle with a foul-smelling, bubbling green liquid, an eye popping on the surface. One of them seems to be whispering spells, as he is stirring with a large wooden stick.

Suddenly, like a bolt, one of them darts around, cocked bow at the ready, the arrow pointing between Frosten's eyes! "WHO ARE YOU?" the long-haired blonde shouts out, as her dwarf companion lifts two huge hammers in a threatening gesture.

Fellow mercenaries, your help is invaluable! By unlocking the 129k stretch goal, you have allowed Frosten access to the potion shop and have gotten yourselves a juicy stretch goal: The MICRO EXPANSION Potion Shop, a Kickstarter exclusive content for both the Leader and the Monster pledge level.

This Micro expansion features a new location tile to be placed on top of the Alchemist in the citadel. The Potion Shop allows you to buy the Elixir, a new potion that allows its bearer a re-roll of a strength or magic die. The added flexibility in battle rounds up the value of venoms and health potions.

The expansion will come with cardboard potion tokens for the Leader pledge and, additionally, with wooden tokens for the Monster pledge. It also includes a new panic token, in printed wood in case of the Monster pledge.

But let's return to poor Frosten and see whether we can help him in the threatening situation he is in. Anyone recognise the faces of those strangers?

Right you are, Kador the Sorcerer, Eileen the Archer, and Bjorn the dwarf, heroes from days gone by, heroes who fought bravely to defend Modhelm in the time of B-Sieged.

Let's unlock the stretch goal at 138k to bring them to our side and see where they lead us!

China, Hong Kong, Macau, Malaysia, Japan, South Corea, Singapore, Taiwan, Thailand, and Vietnam.

We are moving you from Zone 2 (28€) to Zone 1 (13€), a saving of 15€!   GO ASIA!

Also, after further talks with our European distribution partner, 3 more countries share the same lucky fate: Switzerland, Croatia, and Serbia are also moving up from Zone 2 to Zone 1, again saving 15€ on shipping cost.

Now here our challenge: Can you state the languages of the message greeting above (fellow mercenaries) in the correct order? Leave your trial here in the message section!

PS: we are still trying to find solutions for New Zealand, up to now we haven't found a better offer, but we are waiting for news from Aetherworks

PS2: our next announcement will be the launch of multiple copy pledge levels for groups and retailers. These will allow you even more savings on shipping costs. Just missing some more information before we can publish. We can already tell you that we will offer bundles of 2, 6 and 12 copies, so you can start organizing yourselves.

Hitchhikers guide to supporting Monster Lands on Social Media
over 6 years ago – Mon, Nov 06, 2017 at 12:49:57 PM

Fellow mercenaries,

we were asked by some of you why we don’t do social media stretch goals. Obviously, they would help the campaign.

Well, we DO want you to help us with social media (in fact, we are dependent on it), it’s just that we are reluctant to give a direct SG reward for it. We want you to help us because you believe in the campaign, because you really like the product, because you want us to succeed. So let’s give you some pointers on how you can help. Ultimately, this benefits you because it generates more stretch goals, but at least we don’t feel like “buying likes”.

HITCHHIKERS GUIDE TO SUPPORTING MONSTER LANDS ON SOCIAL MEDIA

If you like the game/campaign, let people know. Mention us, mention that you are backing. You probably frequent a lot of social media, blogs, youtube channels etc. that we don’t even know of, there are likely plenty of opportunities to mention us in comments or to link the campaign page. Not if it is out of context, of course, but it is a fair guess that you are hardcore games who meet other hardcore gamers on social media. Please use the following hyperlink if you are linking our campaign, it is a tagged link that will show us the success of your combined efforts in the KS statistics. https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/1571361752/monster-lands-a-strategic-dice-placement-game?ref=cetgnt

Participate! An active community shows involvement with the project. Visit often. Even shouting out your appreciation or your excitement with a simple short comment helps. It gives reassurance to us, and shows others that the vibe here is positive. It also improves ratings on kicktraq and popularity within Kickstarter.

Give a “Fan heart” on our game page

Mark the game as “want to play”, “want to buy”, "pre-ordered", or “wishlist”

Create discussion threads in the forum

DO NOT RATE THE GAME UNLESS YOU HAVE ALREADY PLAYED IT (that’s cheating) but IF you have played it, for example in Essen, rate it and let others know what you think of it.

We aren’t very active on facebook and twitter, simply because we aren’t used to these media on a personal level and have too much on our hands with the campaign to push this much at the moment. But you can help. Like us, share us, retweet us. Our facebook page is https://www.facebook.com/MonsterLandsGame/ and our twitter account is https://twitter.com/SecondGateGames

We have been offered coverage on Instagram by paid services, but do not know to judge whether this is efficient. Feel free to share pictures of the game or let us know where we should publish. We are Instagram/Pinterest virgins :)

There are plenty of videos on our campaign page, of various reviewers. Visit them, and if you have anything to say about the game, good or bad, let other people know in their comments sections.

Dice Tower names Monster Lands "Pick of the week"
over 6 years ago – Mon, Nov 06, 2017 at 08:18:03 AM

Fellow mercenaries, in his weekly crowdsurfing review, Tom Vasel from the Dice Tower just named Monster Lands "Kickstarter Pick of the week", among 20 projects presented in the video.

Now that in itself is not a recommendation (Tom hasn't even played the game yet), but the fact that he chooses Monster Lands over so many other projects for his pick of the week is still great news. It will lead new people to the campaign, hopefully generating more stretch goals for you.

Thought we should share this... see Monster Lands at minute 5:37

Necromancers completed! And a Micro Expansion looming on the horizon...
over 6 years ago – Mon, Nov 06, 2017 at 08:18:00 AM

"FRZZZZ" The glubs, hums, and creaks from freezing ice pop into Skard's ears, as Frosten finally manages to work his freezing power on the daisy's broken stem. "It's whole again! " he shouts with delight and dances back into the forest.

Frosten does not hesitate and gets to work, slowly peeling a pocket full of bark from Cralos. The bark feels strangely heavy, so light in weight, yet so burdensome in responsibility. "Will I be able to get this back to the Citadel in time to save our world?"

He cannot stop to ponder about it, so he makes his way out of the forest and onto a clearing, overlooking a little valley. Right in the middle of the clearing sits a little hut, smoke rising from its chimney. "POTION SHOP" says the sign hinging from a post nearby.

Fellow mercenaries, you have done it again, unlocking the 120k stretch goal is giving us three unique KS exclusive mercenaries to work with. As always, Monster backers will have their wooden printed assignment token with these.

But what's more, we are ready to lift the curtain and finally see what these question marks in the recent stretch goals were all about.

We proudly (and fearfully) present the NECROMANCER AFFINITY to you!

You have collected 5 un-dead monsters, 3 barren lands, and 9 shady mercenaries (including a leader and initial mercenary pair) and have managed to complete this new affinity, that you can play with the base game. You will have to replace any of the existing affinities when playing with this one, in order to keep the affinity balance. Can you handle the dead?

But let's also have a glance at what's lying ahead, Frosten has come across a little hut which says POTION SHOP. Help him get there, at 129k you will unlock a new MICRO EXPANSION, included in your Leader or Monster pledge!

.

The Potion Shop Micro Expansion is an alternative to the Alchemist and its tile can be placed to cover the Alchemist space on the board. It introduces the ELIXIR, a new potion token that will allow you a reroll of either a strength or a magic die. More variety at the potion shop also means you can go with more equipment into battles, as the same "1 potion of each type" rule applies to the Elixir.

The Micro Expansion comes with 12 Elixir tokens, and in the Monster pledge, additionally with 12 custom shaped wooden tokens. Yes, before you mention it, we are aware that you would like the wooden potion tokens to be either printed or stickered, but that's a different topic :) To round it all up, a corresponding panic token (gorgeously printed wood for the Monster pledge) is also featured in the Micro Expansion.

A juicy stretch goal, for you to take! Go for it!

PS: Elixir potions will be stored on the Clan Progress track, in the health potion slot together with the health potions. They have storage limit of 3, just like other potions.
